Summary
DelaControl designed and built a large fleet of Schneider-based control cabinets across multiple machine variants for a UK tobacco industry customer. Working to the customer's own electrical design, DelaControl managed procurement, panel build, testing, and documentation for a substantial number of main control, local, and HMI enclosures — all built and factory acceptance tested at DelaControl's Bristol facility before delivery.
Challenge
A tobacco industry machinery manufacturer required a specialist panel build partner to construct and test a large number of Schneider-based control enclosures for several distinct machine variants.
The customer held the electrical design and Schneider automation components in-house, and needed a capable build partner who could work to their supplied drawings and standards, procure all remaining materials, and deliver fully tested, compliant cabinet assemblies ready for integration.
Solution
DelaControl procured all non-Schneider materials and built the full range of control enclosures — spanning main control cabinets, local cabinets, and HMI cabinets — at its Bristol facility. Schneider automation parts were provided free-issue by the customer and integrated into the builds in accordance with the customer's supplied electrical drawings and their own internal electrical panel standards document.
All enclosures were built using COTS (commercial off-the-shelf) metalwork of specified standard dimensions, with later cabinet batches also incorporating bespoke trunking assemblies and cabinet bottom assemblies fabricated to customer-supplied mechanical drawings. Each cabinet variant was built and tested to BS EN 60204, BS EN 61439-1, and BS EN 61439-2, with a full Test and Inspection Schedule produced for each batch.
The customer was invited to DelaControl's Bristol facility for Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) of each batch prior to delivery. On completion, DelaControl issued a Declaration of Conformity to the Low Voltage Directive and EMC Directive, along with signed test certificates and calibration records. RoHS compliance documentation was also made available on request.
